The Crunchyroll Spring 2013 Lineup is slowly coming to an end and I was finally able to watch the last episode of "The Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat". Now, you may be re-looking at the title of this blog and wondering, "...What? Hentai Prince? In a...cute blog?". Well, I am going to come out and say this: Yes. It was actually cute. Frustrating, yes...but cute.

Yeah, it's pretty damn cute.
Synopsis of Anime: It is said that a stony cat standing in a hill can make our dream come true. Asking for their wishes, the protagonists come to a hill and ask for their wishes to the cat. Then, for some reason or other, a high school boy loses the face he wears in public and his nickname becomes a pervert prince. A cute girl is deprived of her true feelings... The cat makes mischief to their relationship better and worse. What will become of them?
My review: When I first saw the title a few months back, I thought I knew exactly how it would turn out: a typical ecchi that turns into a harem. Man, was I wrong. Sure, there were harem moments and, sure, the main character was a pervert. But, that doesn't mean that it wasn't really, *really* cute.
*SPOILER ALERT*
The show began in a normal slice-of-life fashion: boy meets girl and many adventures show up along the way. But, when you throw in a cat-god that grants wishes (in a not so nice manner), it suddenly becomes much more interesting. The main male character, Yokodera, is a huge pervert that just wants to look at girls, with or without clothes. But, he has a problem expressing his true feelings because he is afraid that people will judge him (and it's true!). So, he goes to the top of a hill where the Stony Cat resides and asks the cat-god to get rid of his facade. What that means is that he has to tell the truth in every situation now. He also meets Tsukiko, a girl who wants to get rid of her childlike behavior (and loses her ability to express emotions on her face). From there, we meet many other characters, such as Azusa Azuki (MY FAVORITE), Tsukushi, and Emi, plus a bunch of other side characters.
The beginning was so nice and cute, with a bit of ecchi thrown in - that's okay though. It got, well, kind of weird when the cat-god started possessing people and sending people back in time. The supernatural element just wasn't something I was expecting. Honestly, I was really just looking forward to a nice, slice-of-life anime. So this threw me for a loop. And when Yokodera starts becoming insensitive to the feelings of both Tsukiko and Azuki, I became frustrated. I get rather angry with characters in anime that are, well, really dense. And it happens a lot.
*SPOILER ALERT ENDS*
Overall, I did enjoy Hentai Prince. I may have been frustrated towards the end, and may even still be frustrated, but that doesn't change the fact that it was a cute, entertaining anime for the season. I will be looking forward to anime that doesn't focus on the derpiness of a dense perverted boy though.
My Rating: 7/10
